I look forward to eating okra each and every summer. ![]() Fresh summer okra, sliced and cooked with canned tomatoes (you could use fresh instead), bacon, onion, celery, and a few seasonings makes a delicious vegetable side dish for almost any meal. Roasting the okra till the edges dry out a bit will seal in the slime. Stewed Okra and Tomatoes is a healthy and delicious southern side. As a side dish a 1 cup serving is plenty so you will have 4.53 carbs in one serving of this recipe. Add okra and pinch of salt., Cook for 10 minutes or until golden on some edges. 14.12 total plus 4 net carbs gives you a total of 18.12 carbs. This classic Southern side dish, steeped in Southern and soul food traditions, combines the delicate flavors of tender okra pods and juicy tomatoes, simmered together in a delicious mix of herbs and spices. This dish contains 2 total cups of tomatoes which is 14.12 plus one half of a medium onion contains 4 net cabs. 1) Tomatoes are considered fp in moderation but with 1 cup having 7.06 grams of carbs the serving size does need to be considered. In case you’re unfamiliar with it, Creole is usually a milder version of Cajun cooking spice wise, but just as flavorful. Mediterranean Okra and Tomato stew is a great quick, vegan option and a fast way to make an okra stew in your Instant Pot or Pressure cooker. Turn the heat to medium, add the stock, bring it to a boil and reduce to a smimmer for 8-10 minutes. To help balance the flavors, add the brown sugar. Add the bay leaf, red wine vinegar and salt. Add the can of stewed tomato (540ml) and smash the tomato with your spoon to break it down a bit. ![]()
